Bluetooth Headset BH200 Ubuntu Gutsy

Bluetooth Headset BH200 Ubuntu Gutsy

New postby basjava » 20 Dec 2007, 17:37

First thing I'd like to say is: AWESOME PROGRAM.

I spent about 2 days learning about all the different commands and config files I had to edit just to pair my headset to my computer. Then I downloaded the Blueman application and after about 4 clicks had it connected and ready to use. However this is where my troubles lie, both when I connected via terminal and through Blueman - after it connects and the proper services are enabled, etc. I still get no sound out of my headphones. I hope somebody has some advice.

Thanks.

ok, you can do it like this:

create file ~/.asoundrc
and put this into it:
Code: Select all
pcm.bluetooth {
   type bluetooth
}

then install audacious, open it and set the audio device to bluetooth, click ok and start playing, but first make sure you added your device in blueman audio service preferences.

Wow, thank you! - I heard sound out of my headset for the first time since I installed Ubuntu. However, I had to manually type in bluetooth into the audio device field, is that what I was supposed to do or was it suppose to be there to select through the drop down menu. By typing it in I got it to work through audacious but no other programs.

Well thank you for your help, I'm a lot further than I was before. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it to work with all applications including firefox?

thanks walmis for the help.

I found the answer buried on another forum, to make the bluetooth headset the default sound device (if its on), just put this in ~/.asoundrc

Code: Select all
pcm.!default {
  type bluetooth
  device "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX"
}

if its not on, then it will default to the normal sound card. At least with my experiences.

device "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX"
is not needed, it will default to one you set in blueman audio service
